The Pro Team Golf League offers a new equation in professional golf—it’s the combination of intense interest, drama and rivalry of team match play with passionate fans supporting their teams and having control in their team’s destiny through exciting online community tools.
How it works. Teams represent cities across North America--think Ryder Cup team competition at the city level. Players are professionals from the developmental tours aspiring to eventually play at the PGA TOUR level.
The teams play matches throughout a 24 game regular season. Fans have a say in team pairings and head to head matches—just like the captain of the Ryder Cup. They participate as ProCoaches‘ through the PTGL website. As a ProCoach, fans become the team captain for their selected team and participate using Strat.e.golf‘, the PTGL’s web game strategy platform.
The Players. Players are selected to play for teams representing PTGL city franchises. Players come from tours like the Nationwide, Canadian PGA, Hooters, etc.
The Cities. Eight cities will be represented when the PTGL inaugurates play in March, 2009.
The Emotion. Passionate golf fans can now become more deeply involved by influencing strategy in the competition. Dramas unfold as team rivalries take place in match play. Pressures intensify for the golfers as they compete for the team rather than for themselves.
The Pro Team Golf League (PTGL) announced that it will begin competition with six to eight teams..
